Food Equity is the expansive concept that all people have the ability and opportunity to access and consume healthful, and affordable foods.
While 2020 presented unprecedented challenges, we were able to meet our mission in ways we could not have imagined. With the continued support, commitment to eating local, and generous donations of our members, FreshFix was able to provide more access to fresh produce than ever before!
Through weekly donation boxes, custom donations, Facebook donations and FreshFix match, we provided:
314 boxes of groceries ($40 value each) to families who had lost income due to COVID.
We supported our friends at the MAP and CAO mobile markets with 910 discounted boxes of produce for sale in neighborhoods with limited access to fresh food.
Our Thanksgiving drive raised enough money to provide fruit and vegetables to 200 needy families.
Journey's End refugee services received 82 free and discounted boxes for the families they served.
We also provided free boxes throughout the year to the Tapestry Charter School Food Pantry, ECC Learning Garden, and various other community programs.
In addition to box donations, excess food was donated to Food Not Bombs and the Community Fridge, Friends of the Night People and other local hunger relief organizations.
We believe that everyone should have access to fresh, healthy food and are grateful that our community does too.
