Here is what you can expect from FreshFix during the COVID-19 epidemic: No contact delivery: As much as we want to get to know and interact with our customers, we are currently operating on a no contact delivery policy. That means that your community coordinator will drop your box off in the designated location, ring the door bell and leave before you answer the door. In the event that you aren't home or don't hear the doorbell (or don't have a working doorbell) we recommend that you leave a cooler with icepacks for your produce. A cooler is also required for meat/dairy/eggs. Extended delivery windows: While we generally are able to give customers a 2-3 hour delivery window during which boxes will be delivered our routes are changing frequently due to the addition of new customers. If you would like to be notified when you box has been delivered, please leave a note for your coordiantor with your cell phone number in the message section of your profile indicating that you would like a text when your delivery has been made. 2-Week Box Quarantine: Best estimates from research published in the New England Journal of Medicine indicate that COVID-19 can only live on cardboard for a few hours (max estimates are about 72 hours). Out of an abundance of caution, we will be quarantining our boxes for 2 weeks before they are used for another customer. For the safety of our staff and customers we ask that if you are sick that you do not return your box. You can also leave out a cooler and avoid the need for us to leave a box. Expanded local produce range: Normally all of the food in our weekly boxes is from farmers within 100-miles of Buffalo. Given the rapid increase in interest in home delivery during a time when local produce availability is limisted, we may include some produce in our boxes from outside our normal range. We will always prioritize food from our existing farmer partners before going outside our range.
To ensure the best possible experience, we request that customers:
Leave out a cooler even if you are home
Update the "message" section in your profile with detailed information about where to leave the box (or where your cooler is located) and/or preferences for knocking vs. doorbell vs. text.
Do NOT return your boxes if you are sick- we will not charge you extra box fees in this case.
